Practice makes perfect: 2 weeks is all it takes to start with video marketing

When was the last time you learned something new?

As working professionals, it’s all-too-easy to get pulled into a routine. We have established workflows, perceptions, and schedules.

Is this why more real estate agents aren’t investing in video marketing despite all the benefits? We’ve found that realtors who use video grow their revenue up to 49% faster than those who don’t. Yet despite the clear advantage, only 38% of agents use video marketing, according to the National Association of REALTORS®. When you consider the agents who use video regularly, that number drops drastically lower.

So again, we ask: Why aren’t more agents using video marketing?

The answer is simple.

Most agents are afraid they don’t have the time to learn video marketing.

After all, there are people who get four-year degrees in cinematography, directing, editing, and other aspects of film production. The perception is, “How can a busy agent like me learn the video skills necessary to actually be effective?

With Rolla, all it takes is 2 weeks to get started in video marketing for real estate.

We designed our onboarding process to be as quick, efficient, and effective for real estate agents as possible. In fact, all you need is your smartphone.

During our onboarding process, you’ll have ample opportunity to practice and refine your skills. We’ll guide you through the process so that you know how to capture the perfect shots for:

  • Market Updates

  • Listing Videos

  • Topic Videos

  • Neighborhood Guides

  • Agent Bios

  • Before and After Videos

The more videos you make, the better you will become. There’s a reason that our top agents and teams aim to create up to 60 videos per year. Once you experience the traction and increased leads from video marketing, you’ll want to keep making more.

So that raises the question: how can real estate agents without a background in video practice and refine their skills?

Practice a little bit at a time.

At Rolla, we understand that agents like you are busy and are juggling multiple tasks for your clients. We designed our products to take 20 minutes to film (and your dedicated video editor will handle the rest). All of this to say, you don’t need to set aside an entire day to practice. All you need is a few minutes. Maybe it’s a few minutes in-between calls. Perhaps it’s a few minutes from your lunch break. A little bit of time and consistency is all you need to start seeing improvement.

Always bring your stabilizer and phone with you.

You never know when inspiration might strike. Let’s say you’re meeting with a client at a local coffee shop. After the meeting ends, you might realize that this coffee shop is one of your favorite spots and it’s something that you want to highlight for a Neighborhood Guide. By always having your phone and stabilizer nearby, you’ll always be prepared to practice and grab the perfect shots.

Side note: In case you didn’t already know, your annual Rolla package comes with a free DJI Osmo stabilizer!

Watch the finished product.

Our editors will craft a captivating finished product with the footage that you provide. By taking the time to watch the finished product, you’ll begin to get a sense of how the clips you capture get edited together. This may give you more inspiration or guidance on how to approach taking video in the future.

Consistency is more effective than bingeing.

Just like learning any new skill, consistency is key when it comes to practicing recording video. It’s better to practice a little bit each day (or a few times a week) than it is to binge in a single day.

Remember when you were in high school? It was easier to perform well on tests when you studied a little bit for days at a time rather than cramming everything in the night before. Again, all it takes is a few minutes to practice taking video footage.

Have fun with it!

Instead of viewing video as something you “have to do,” view it as an opportunity to grow your skill set and expand your business opportunities. Once the initial fear of diving into video marketing subsides, most of our agents find that it’s a fun skill to have and a fun addition to their workday. The more “fun” it feels to you, the more you’ll want to practice and the more video you’ll want to create to grow your business.

Of course, the best way to learn something is from a mentor or an expert.
